“Before Abraham” means before everything

What an incredible verse John 8:58 is:
“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.’”

Lately, I’ve been interested in Scripture (particularly the Gospels) where Jesus is mentioned as God.  It doesn’t get clearer than this.

Read it in context here.

And after saying that, they picked up stones to kill him with. For all the people who claim Jesus is not God (even Christians) I don’t see how they could have missed John 1. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then just a few verses later “The Word became flesh and dwelt among men.” Just according to these verses, Jesus is the Word (capitalized) of God, and the Word of God IS God.

Since Christmas is coming up, I’ve been telling people that if the baby in the manger is anything less than GOD WITH US, we’ve missed the whole entire message of the Christmas story. When we could not come to God, he came to us.
